Challenge
Transport for London (TfL) required robust, impartial oversight of its capital works and programme recovery following the disruption caused by the COVID‑19 pandemic. With a wide-ranging portfolio encompassing rail, road and technology refurbishment, TfL needed confident, external validation at key decision gateways to safeguard governance, manage supply‑chain risk, and restore capital delivery trajectories.
Solution
G&T was appointed under TfL’s Professional Services Framework to provide Independent Assurance, Project Management and Programme Controls support. Acting as an external expert “critical friend”, our team carried out assurance reviews at gateway points, delivering comprehensive visibility of deliverables, cost, risk and supply-chain health. Working tightly with TfL’s Project Assurance team, we produced detailed reports identifying issues, opportunities and lessons learned, underpinned by a consolidated reporting system that brought clarity and consistency to governance.
Outcome
G&T’s independent assurance interventions have enhanced TfL’s confidence in capital investment decisions, helping embed consistency and quality across diverse projects. Early issue identification and shared insights from assurance reviews have driven proactive corrective actions, improved supplier stability, and refined programme performance. As TfL advances its recovery and renews its infrastructure ambitions, the strengthened assurance framework ensures transparency and resilience throughout the delivery lifecycle.
