Health Vision Swansea
Morriston Hospital is the main general hospital for Swansea and the surrounding locality. The new 12,415m虏 building replaced existing sub-standard accommodation which was provided by buildings constructed in the 1930s and 1940s.
The development included renal dialysis, main concourse, support functions, general outpatients, radiology, phlebotomy, lung function, endoscopy, dedicated paediatric outpatients, pre-operative assessment unit, ambulance liaison, specialist services and integrated education centre.
The project was delivered within the NHS Wales Framework - Designed for Life: Building for Wales. The level of procurement was significant but the choice of contract and procurement route allowed for full 'open book' transparency letting the project team demonstrate value for money, particularly important for a public funded project.
