Capital Works & FM Strategic Review

NHS North West London Procurement Services (NWLPS) provides a single shared service for nine NHS partner organisations with the objective of delivering increased value through the procurement function as well as supporting the development of new commercial opportunities. The service enables partner organisations to increase efficiency and delivery from supply partners as well as improve the overall service experience for stakeholders, staff and patients.

G&T's engagement involved a comprehensive assessment of capital works procurement and Hard FM service management, along with delivery operations across eight out of the nine Trusts. This review incorporated assessments of documentation and interviews with stakeholders to understand existing delivery and procurement models. Additionally, a baseline report was developed for each Trust, offering a comparative analysis and a thorough examination of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).

The team also identified options for future FM delivery, based on a formalised options appraisal model and a 'pan Trust' capital works procurement solution including structures, sourcing solutions and transition issues.

This provided the client with:

  • A formalised and ranked analysis of FM service delivery model options
  • The identification of capital works solutions to support Trust objectives
  • Benefits analysis identifying how the solutions address Trust risks and issues
