Alongside our fellow team members Eden Nuclear and Environment Ltd, Cyclife UK Ltd, Hydrock Consulting Ltd, IfM Engage, Integrated Decision Management Ltd, Lucideon Limited, Onet Technologies CN, RAND Europe Community Interest Company, WSP UK Limited and the University of Bristol, we are looking forward to supporting NDA on this important Framework over the next four years.

We are proud to be once more involved in the NDA for the Research Portfolio Framework for “Enabling Decommissioning, Waste Management and Remediation”. We look forward to supporting the team to provide our core services on any projects where we can add value.

Nicholas Clarke

Partner, G&T

The framework contract is intended to provide research and development to support the development and implementation of the Integrated Waste Management (IWM), Site Decommissioning and Remediation (SDR) and Critical Enabler (CE) strategies as defined by the NDA strategy. Combining research and development for these areas into one framework contract allows cross-over opportunities between themes e.g. characterisation, sustainable decommissioning techniques and practices, records/knowledge management and innovation. The topics covered include:

  • Integrated Waste Management, which includes waste management data and information for planning and preparation, waste treatment and packaging, waste storage, waste transport and waste disposal
  • Site Decommissioning and Remediation, which includes approaches to prioritisation of activities, characterisation approaches and technologies, asset management, site interim and end states, land quality management and site stewardship
  • Critical Enablers, which underpin the development of NDA Strategy across the critical enablers identified in NDA strategy 4

Dr Paul Gilchrist, Managing Director of Eden Nuclear and Environment Ltd, said:

“We are extremely delighted to have the opportunity to build upon our last eight years of work and continue our support to the NDA’s in their new NRP Framework Enabling Decommissioning, Waste Management and Remediation. This framework is vitally important to the delivery of the UK’s civil nuclear decommissioning mission, and we will utilise the deep and diverse expertise from our team and our new partners to support the NDA over the next four years.”

We have supported delivery programmes at several UK nuclear facilities including Sellafield and Wylfa Newyd for clients including Nuclear Waste Services and the Atomic Weapons Establishment.

We are experienced in the whole nuclear cycle from building new power stations and associated developments to decommissioning and demolition, waste management and final disposal. We also work with
research organisations and advanced modular nuclear reactor vendors.
