Museum of London

Museum of London is moving to a new home in West Smithfield - an area which forms an integral part of the City of London Corporation's Culture Mile - providing a sustainable future for the historic market and its Victorian buildings.

Scheduled to open in 2024, the new museum will be housed in a campus of what are currently dilapidated and derelict buildings, including the General Market and the Grade II Listed Poultry Market.

The scheme has been designed by award-winning architects Stanton Williams and Asif Khan with conservation architect Julian Harrap. Much of the historic fabric of the buildings will be preserved to create cavernous and atmospheric spaces both above and below ground, capable of hosting a broader range of displays, exhibitions, learning activities and events.
