Rugby World Cup 2015

Rugby World Cup 2015

G&T provided Cost Management services to the special company set up by the Rugby Football Union to deliver the Rugby World Cup Tournament in 2015. The services offered supported the feasibility, development, procurement and delivery of temporary and permanent infrastructure upgrades across the 13 existing stadia.

Facilities at the venues were enhanced to accommodate the requirements of the Tournament. The programme balanced the requirements of the Tournament and the long term objectives of the stadium owners. With multiple stakeholders, various funding sources and operational facilities, the programme presented challenges associated with the delivery of high profile sporting events.

In addition to the stadia, G&T worked to support temporary improvements of nationwide training venues. These 41 venues were selected by the England 2015 Team Services Programme to deliver tournament time hotel, training and media facilities for the 20 competing teams. Training in privacy is an important concern as teams prepared for their fixtures. These tournament time facilities were supported by back of house functions, such as office space.
