V&A East - Stratford Waterfront
Scheduled to open in 2023, the V&A East project will create two interconnected sites in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 鈥� a brand new museum at Stratford Waterfront and a new collection and research centre at Here East.
The new five storey museum at Stratford Waterfront, designed by O鈥橠onnell + Tuomey, will showcase collections which will sit alongside new commissions, installations and collaborations. A unique partnership with the Smithsonian Institution will deliver an innovative exhibition programme and a jointly-curated gallery with the Smithsonian delivering one in four exhibitions at the museum.
The new museum is part of East Bank, a 拢1.1 billion powerhouse of culture, education, innovation and growth being built on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The V&A building will sit alongside a new campus for UAL's London College of Fashion, a new mid-scale venue for Sadler's Wells and new recording, rehearsal and performance studios for the BBC. UCL will also create its new UCL East campus to the south of the site.
