G&T Reports Robust Performance for 2016/17

For its 2016/17 financial year, Gardiner & Theobald has recorded another strong financial performance. Headline group fee income grew by 14% to 拢172m (2015/16, 拢150m) and headline profitability margin was maintained at 27% (2016/17, 拢47m : 2015/16, 拢40.5m). The firm also increased its global headcount from 990 to 1072.

G&T鈥檚 London business performed well with an increased turnover of 拢101m, up 12%, while the UK regions saw a positive increase of 17% (拢28m). Internationally, G&T鈥檚 US business enjoyed an exceptional performance with turnover up 24% (拢27m). During the year the firm continued with its strategic plan to reduce the G&T global footprint while consolidating its core geographic markets of the UK and US. Together with the firm鈥檚 international construction and engineering disputes subsidiary Fairway, these operations all performed well during the year.

Simon Jones continued, 

鈥淎s the UK prepares to leave the EU and other geopolitical and macroeconomic events unfold we have seen some cooling off in a small number of our markets and operating sectors but in the short to medium term the majority remain buoyant through to the end of 2017 and into early 2018. We continue to monitor the situation for impacts on the property and construction sector.鈥

During 2016/17 G&T launched its Chartership Programme and welcomed its first apprentices to the firm. The Chartership Programme is an expansion of the earlier Graduate Development Scheme and now welcomes apprentices and career changers as well as graduates. 

Simon Jones added, 

鈥淭he G&T Chartership Programme is helping us to attract a more diverse pool of new talent to the firm. We are particularly pleased to have welcomed the first apprentices to the firm which we see as a key route into the profession alongside the more traditional pathways.鈥
