G&T Builds Equality at Leeds Pride 2018
For the very first time, companies from across the construction and property industry teamed up to represent LGBT+ equality at Leeds Pride 2018.
The G&T Leeds team joined forces with 16 industry wide firms to celebrate LGBT+ colleagues and friends at . 2018 marks 15 years since Section 28 was repealed and G&T was proud to be an advocate of an industry which is inclusive and committed. Those marching were also joined by the parade highlight, a rainbow coloured JCB digger.
The LGBT+ working group #BuildingEquality is an alliance of those within the construction industry fighting for change. As a collective, they look to promote the inclusion of LGBT+ individuals into all areas of the workplace, creating a safe and supportive place for professionals in the built environment.

#BuildingEquality recently celebrated its fourth successful year marching at London Pride and the Leeds entry stands alongside recent debuts in Manchester and Newcastle. It signifies a genuine shift in values as well as understanding the importance of modernism throughout the workforce to create a network of likeminded individuals.

The event challenged stereotypes, highlighting the construction industry as one that can harness its collective power to drive change. Leeds Pride proved that companies throughout the built environment, who are often competitors, can come together to tackle important issues and break down the barriers of both stereotypes and statistics.
