Organised by Sefton Council, the Southport Learning Partnership and supported by the wider project team, G&T took part in the Marine Lake Events Centre (MLEC) initial Hoarding event aimed at inspiring and engaging with local young people С»ÆѼÊÓƵ opportunities for future careers and to create some designs to be placed on the safety hoardings around the project site.

Over 100 pupils from both primary and secondary schools in the Sefton Borough were invited to put their creative minds to paper, with winning designs set to decorate the project hoardings on Southport Promenade. The children were tasked to provide designs for the hoardings based on things they loved С»ÆѼÊÓƵ Southport, roles in construction and nature in Southport.

Representatives from AFL Architecture and Gardiner & Theobald supported the 1-day event to inspire the local school children, who Sefton Council hope will be beneficiaries from the MLEC project once completed.

"It was great to share with the young people our passion for the MLEC project and see their excitement to be involved in such a huge scheme right on their doorstep. I can't wait to drive past and see some of the designs on the project hoarding in the new year!"

Emma Scott-Miller

G&T Associate Director

As part of the MLEC project, where G&T is providing Project Management, Cost Management, Employer's Agent and CDM Consultancy & Principal Designer services, G&T continues to work with the project team, including Sefton Council, to prioritise social value initiatives and regularly engage the local community throughout the whole life-cycle of the project.

Incorporating new public realm spaces, a water and light show, restaurant, café, exhibition and theatre space, MLEC will create a vibrant space for local people.

Supporting the community impacted by MLEC forms part of G&T’s ESG initiative and is supported by our Business with Purpose framework, which continues to look for ways we can give back to the local communities we operate in.
