The programme seeks out and recognises the brightest students studying degree subjects relating to the built environment. The awards raise awareness of the opportunities available to students upon graduation, as well as highlighting to industry the necessity of connecting with Universities early in the education process.

Many students secure work placements as a result of competing for the awards, as well as permanent positions upon graduation.

‘I have a real soft spot for the annual Student Awards celebration. The mix of attendees seems to energise the room and we find that students, lecturers and industry contacts value the opportunity to connect. Listening to the experiences and views of today’s young women whilst offering guidance and reassurance as they enter the industry provides value to everyone.’

Jillian Love, G&T marketing executive and WiP branch Chair

Over the past 18 years over 1,600 students have been through the Awards programme, which explores their course work, challenges their wider industry knowledge and encourages them to hone and develop their interpersonal skills.

2024 has seen a talented and diverse group of contenders, with 122 students nominated by their lecturers, representing 55 Universities.

Central Scotland awards-judging process took place in Edinburgh and Glasgow over two days in early March, where 13 students presented to regional sponsors Avison Young, BakerHicks and Tilbury Douglas; National sponsors Amazon, Bouygues, Savills and TP Bennett, and representatives from Women in Property.

The 2024 Central Scotland winners will be announced at a Student Awards and Summer Drinks event in Bonnie & Wild, Edinburgh on 23rd May.

G&T’s branch sponsorship helps fund this awards ceremony and networking event, keeping ticket costs affordable for all and allowing nominees, their lecturer and an additional companion a complimentary place.

The event is open to everyone and bookable here:

Regional winners will go on to the next round of the competition and attend the National 'Best of the Best' Dinner at Claridge's London, on Thursday 19th September 2024.
