A planning application has been submitted by Corran Properties Limited, acting on behalf of CBRE Investments Management, for the refurbishment of Exchange Place 1.

At 120,000 sq ft, Exchange Place 1 is one of the largest offices in Edinburgh’s prime Exchange District. G&T is providing Cost Management, Project Management and Principal Designer & CDM Consultancy services.

Designed by Michael Laird Architects, the building's refurbishment will provide all-new electric heating and cooling, a relocated entrance, premium occupier amenities and a roof-top terrace. It will be fully enabled for net zero carbon in operation and is targeting the highest level of ESG accreditations.

The proposed works will place the building in the top 5% of UK office buildings for environmental, sustainability and energy performance.

Nick Ball of Corran Properties commented: “It is now widely recognised that there is a huge under-supply of Grade A office accommodation in the development pipeline in Edinburgh. These proposals will deliver exactly what we know occupiers require for the future and will result in economic growth and job creation in the city. It is imperative that investment is put into buildings such as Edinburgh 1 so that they can positively contribute towards the ongoing decarbonisation of the commercial property sector”.
